Abstract

In Iran, the highest portion of water is consumed by agricultural sector, correction of traditional irrigation methods and introduction of new irrigation methods such as pressurized irrigation system plays an effective role in increasing water productivity. Drip tape irrigation is a new pressurized irrigation method which is rapidly developing in recent years in Iran. According to the conducted survey, few studies have assessed the suitable length of drip irrigation tapes. Thus, the present study is attempted to hydraulically assess drip irrigation tapes and provide a suitable length for each tape in constant discharge and pressure. To do so, a number of irrigation tapes made by different domestic and foreign factories were evaluated. The tapes were located on a constant zero slope (S = 0) and sampling of discharge volume was performed at different distances from the beginning of the tape for 60, 80, and 100 m lengths tapes. Based on the results, the best length for use is 60 m for labyrinth tape, 60 m and 80 m for domestic made waterfall tapes, and 100 m for foreign made tape
