POLLUTION EMISSION CONTROL AND ENERGY OPTIMIZATION IN THE MINI-STEEL ROLLING PROCESSES BY LOSS FUNCTION APPROACH-A CASE STUDY

A. Modi , J.K. Shrivastava and D.A. Hindolia

Abstract

The modern mini-steel rolling plant due to heavy energy consumption and complicated equipment and highly stressed working conditions requires minimum energy losses during conversion process and its performance control. The Indian steel rolling plant has to match with the competitors, both in-house and abroad in respect to international norms for the environment and pollution and with the energy cost also. An improved model for Pollution emission control and energy optimization of hot rolling process of a mini-steel rolling plant can be obtained by help of Taguchi Loss Function approach.
