CORRELATION AND REGRESSION ANALYSIS FOR WATER QUALITY ASSESSMENT

SUNITA VERMA, DIVYA TIWARI AND AJAY VERMA

Abstract

Significant negative correlation values were observed between dissolved oxygen with water temperature while positive relationship with total hardness and phosphate. pH of water expressed positive significant correlation with total hardness, phosphate and chloride values estimated from studied stations. More over water temperature shows significant negative correlations with total hardness, phosphate and low correlated values with chloride and pH. Water temperature had maintained significant linear regression with BOD and DO which were supported by high values of R square i.e 62% and 71% respectively. BOD had significant linear regression with total hardness and phosphate values. Similar picture portrayed by DO with total hardness and phosphate.
