Abstract

Nomads in northern Khorassan have had an undeniable role during their 450 years history of existence in northern Khorasan’s geography as a dynamic and producing society and for possessing specific characteristics compared to other societies, they have been more independent and during the past centuries they have had a special place in northern Khorasan society. Nowadays one of the main branches of nomadic tribes in the country, Chamosh gezag tribe (Kormanj) and Turkmen has been resettled in pastors and biological territories that are considered as the vast areas of valuable natural and environmental fields of northern Khorasan. A substantial percentage of the nomads had preserved their culture and living pattern so far. Hence, it can be seen that disregarding the decline in nomadic population and its marginalization during the recent decades, this living pattern has an important and outstanding role in social and economic life regarding the natural geography of the province, and it should be focused on regarding planning the sustainable development of the province, specifically in rural tourism development. Locating nomadic areas, nomadic tourism attractions and taking advantage of the decisions made regarding the leadership’s travels and creating tourism attraction in northern Khorasan are the main goals of this research.
