NEETA SHIVAKUMAR, A. PUSHPA AND S. LAXMI

Abstract

Young buds of Zingiber officinale (Rosc) Cv. Humnabad (a variety grown in Northern Karnataka, India) were used for the initiation of callus growth on MS medium supplemented with various concentrations of NAA and BAP. The percentage of callus formation and average weight of callus were obtained from young buds cultured on medium supplemented with MS +1 mg/L NAA. Shoots were successfully regenerated on the medium with concentrations of MS +1mg/L NAA +0.1 mg/ L BAP. The rooted shoots were successfully acclimatized in the green house conditions.
