EVALUATION OF LIQUID MEDIA FOR GROWTH, DEVELOPMENT AND VIABILITY OF BEAUVERIA BASSIANA (BALSAMO) VUILLEMINR.S. Jadhav, S. D. Patil, N.S. Ukey J.R. Kadam and A.S. DamreAbstract The growth, development and viability of Beauveria bassiana was studied in different liquid media. The surface coverage of the medium by the fungal mat was 13.33 to 35.00, 43.33 to 100.00 and 61.67 to 100.00 per cent at 3, 7 and 10 days after inoculation (DAI). Potato dextrose broth (PDB) emerged as most suitable medium. It was reflected by the production of significantly highest biomass of 6.10 g with 9.75 × 108 cfu ml-1. Sabourauds dextrose broth + yeast extract (SDY) was the next promising medium. It gave biomass of 5 g with 8.50 x 108 cfu mL-1. It was at par to PDB + yeast (4.80 g biomass with 7.42 x 108 cfu mL-1). Addition of NaCl 1, 2 and 3 per cent in PDB failed to give additive effect on growth, development and viability of B. bassiana.
