Janet S. Estacion and Jacinta R. Lucaņas

Abstract

Three intertidal sites at Baladingan were surveyed for seagrass and algal cover, density, biomass and associated macroinvertebrates. The intertidal area was predominantly a seagrass community although Sargassum, Hormophysa and Turbinaria were the dominant vegetation at Sawang. Six seagrass, 58 algal and 23 macroinvertebrate species were recorded. Among the sites, Famosa recorded the highest number of algal species and macroinvertebrate species and density; thus, recommended for protection.
