MARINE MAMMALS AND SEABIRDS OF SAVU SEA, INDONESIA

Abstract

The main objectives of the study were add to the current knowledge on marine mammals and seabird species present in Savu Sea and identify threats to the cetacean populations. About six species of Odontocetes, one whale and five seabirds were observed in the north-eastern part of Savu Sea. Whale hunting still exist unidentified baleen particularly in Lamalera and Lamakera, with 18 sperm whales caught in just four months in 2010.
