Abstract

Eight botanicals were evaluated for their efficacy against Rhizoctonia solani Kühn causing web blight of urdbean in in-vitro and in-vivo. Water extract of eight botanicals viz; eucalyptus, giloe, neem, bhang, bael, tulsi, alovera and dhatura were tested at 15, 25, 35 and 45 % concentrations in in vitro over control. Among all the plant extracts tested, eucalyptus was found highly effective in reducing the radial growth of R. Solani i.e. 90.07 % followed by dhatura and bhang i.e. 86.22 % and 80.00% respectively at 45% concentration. In in vivo condition, foliar spray of eucalyptus was observed superior over other treatments giving maximum reduction (80.47%) in disease severity followed by dhatura (73.09%). Alovera was found least effective by controlling 32.39% web blight. During both the crop seasons (2011 and 2012) eucalyptus has given maximum increase in grain yield (34.59%) and 1000-grains weight (33.36%).
