Abstract

A field investigation was undertaken during summer 2012 at Naganahalli village, Mysore district, Karnataka to study the graded levels of zinc and boron on availability of zinc and zinc fractions of paddy. After harvest of crop significantly higher available zinc content was recorded in T12 treatment with application of RDF + ZnSO4 @ 20 kg ha-1 + Borax @ 4 kg ha-1. Significantly higher water soluble, sorbed, carbonate bound, organic matter bound, iron and aluminium oxide bound, residual and total zinc fractions was recorded in T16 treatment (RDF + ZnSO4 @ 30 kg ha-1 + Borax @ 6 kg ha-1) but easily reducible manganese bound zinc fraction was recorded significantly higher in T14 treatment (RDF + ZnSO4 @ 30 kg ha-1 + Borax @ 2 kg ha-1). Among the fractions, the residual zinc recorded highest zinc fraction and water soluble zinc recorded lowest zinc fraction.
