Abstract

An experiment was carried out to find out the influence of exogenous application of certain micronutrients on photosynthetic activity of cashew variety Bhaskara. Net photosynthetic rate (PN) was maximum in all four directions (E-East, W-West, S-South and N-North) between 11-12 hours. Between 15-16 hours PN was higher in west than other directions. Stomatal conductance (gs) was similar in all directions. Irradiance was more important for PN and gs. The highest leaf area and PN was recorded in the trees sprayed with Zinc sulphate (0.5%) + Borax (0.1%). In this study all trees sprayed with micronutrients significantly increased PN, leaf area and yield compared to control. The amount of carbohydrates depends on the rate of the leaves photosynthesis which in turn also depends on the leaf area and the leaf photosynthetic capacity.
