Varadaraju

Abstract

The haematological indices of aquatic frog, Hoplobatrachus tigerinus and terrestrial toad, Duttaphrynus melanostictus were studied with reference to sex on monthly basis for a period of one year from August, 1996 to July, 1997. The erythrocyte count, total leucocytes count, haematocrit and haemoglobin content and haematimetric indices such as mean corpuscular volume, mean corpuscular haemoglobin and mean corpuscular haemoglobin concentration were compared between the terrestrial and aquatic species with reference to pre-monsoon, monsoon and post-monsoon periods.
