Abstract

The flow situation, the normal hydraulic conditions and the flow properties in the morning glory spillways will be variable based on the partial measurement of the different parts. By building a physical-hydraulic model of the morning glory spillway in this research project, the effect of R/d upon the hydraulic flow conditions were studied by carrying out 108 different experiments in the submergence conditions of this weir, and the results are presented via some charts based on the non-dimensional parameters, and also the analysis of the experimental results as a practical formula was deducted to measure the flow discharge coefficient in the morning glory spillways by means of multi variable regression analysis. The deducted results have indicated that by increasing the radius of the bend, the flow discharge coefficient will increase in a way that for a weir with a crest diameter of 14 cm, as R/d fluctuates from 1.43 to 2.75; the flow discharge coefficient values increase by 10 to 11 percent.
