Abstract

The investigations on comparative performances of pigeonpea genotypes/varieties were carried out at Agricultural Research Farm, Banaras Hindu University Varanasi during the kharif season of 2012-13 and 2013-14. The highest mean percent pod damage and percent grain damage by pod fly, pod bug and lepidopterous pod borer was observed in MAL-31(43.00 & 40.67,18.67 &19.62) ,MAL-24 (17.67 & 19.67,6.03 & 6.08) and MAL-6 (12.00 & 13.00,3.52 & 3.97) respectively while lowest mean percent pod damage and percent grain damage was observed in MAL-24 (30.00 & 28.00,11.41 & 11.76),MAL-31 (12.00 & 10.33,18.65 & 19.62), MAL-24 (8.67 & 8.00,1.92 & 2.40) respectively during both the years. The variety Bahar and genotype MAL-32 shows moderate level of damage and given highest Yield, i.e 1197 & 1108, 1178 & 1147 kg/ha respectively while lowest yield in MAL-24 (872 & 855) during the year 2012-13 & 2013-14.
