Abstract

Economics of Rice cultivation in different agro climatic zones of eastern U.P. have been analyzed based on primary data collected through a sample of 100 farmers in 2012-13. Rice was found with the maximum cultivated area in both the regions. The study has identified that use of all the inputs like seeds, fertilizers, micronutrients, farm machinery is more and above the recommended level in Chiraigaon block of Eastern plain zone. Madihaan block of Vindhyan region was found having use of inputs below the recommended level. Cost incurred on per hectare cultivation was found more in Chiraigaon block as compared to Madihaan block and Yield of Chiraigaon block was also found more than Madihaan block. Resource productivityanalysis revealed that both the blocks are getting increasing returns to scale. In Chiraigaon block inputs like man days, seeds and irrigation where as in Madihaan block man days, nitrogen, phosphorous, irrigation and plant protection chemicals are contributing significantly in the gross return.
