Abstract

The period 1978-80 has been considered a milestone in the history of socioeconomic world. From this decade onward, economic practices experienced an obvious transition towards neoliberalism. Besides, deregulation, privatization, and the withdrawal of the government from the sphere of social security became customary, which ultimately, led to catastrophic consequences. This study aimed to reveal the consequences of globalization and its impact on rural communities in Shirvan. This is a causal-comparative and co relational research. The research used questionnaires and statistics analysis methods to quantify the concepts of the questionnaires. The research population consisted of Heads of household aged 50 and more in 8 sample villages which had been selected among 154 villages, using a combination of sampling techniques. In this research, the differences in inequality between rural and urban communities due to globalization were investigated. The results of data analysis in the non-parametric chi-square test showed that the P-value, computed to test the hypothesis, was less than significance level α =0.05; therefore, H0 was rejected, indicating that there was a relationship between independent and dependent variables.
