UPWARD TRANSFER OF FUEL OIL FROM POLLUTED SOIL TO A LAYER OF CLEAN SANDELENA N. FEDOSEEVA, ARCADY D. ZORIN, VICTOR B. FEDOSEEV, LUDMILA E. SAMSONOVA AND VALENTINA F. ZANOZINAAbstract Ascending spread of fuel oil in a layer of clean sand used for isolation of polluted soil has been studied experimentally. It has been shown that vertical migration of pollutant in a sandy layer may reach a noticeable speed. The essential role of several factors, among which dimensional characteristics and water saturation of the porous media, influence of adhesive interaction of the contacting environments has been demonstrated.
