COST, RETURN AND PRODUCTIVITY OF MAIN VEGETABLE CROPS IN EASTERN U.P.

Abstract

An attempt was made to work out costs, return and productivity of three vegetables i.e. green chilli, potato and onion in Ghazipur district of eastern U.P. the study was based on 140 vegetable growers of different farm size groups of the study area. The average input output ratio in case of green chilli was 1:2.45 and decreased with the increased in farm size except in case of cost the trend is vise-versa. In case of potato, marginal and small farms were more productive and profitable as compared to chilli because average input output ratio was 1:3.18. Similarly in case of onion the marginal and small farms were more productive and profitable.
