Abstract

The field experiment was conducted during two consecutive years of Kharif 2013 and 2014 at Research Farm, College of Agriculture, Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh to evaluate the suitable planting date and nutrient management practices of soybean crop. The results revealed that the planting of soybean on 1st July was found better over other plantings dates and gave significantly higher root and yield attributes with maximum seed yield (2115.37 q/ha). Among nutrient management practices, application of 75% RDF with 2.5 t FYM/ ha proved superior as compared to other nutrient management treatments and gave significantly higher values of yield attributing characters viz. number of pods per plant (28.00), number of seeds per pod (3.03), test weight (110.69g) and seed yield (2142.65 kg/ha). In terms of root parameter, the highest values of root length, root dry weight, number of nodules per plant and dry weight of nodules per plant were also recorded with the application of 75% RDF + 2.5 t FYM/ha.
