Abstract

The research was carried out to study the status of different fractions of nitrogen in soils of Omerga tahsil (administrative unit) of Osmanabad district. For this perpose total 180 soil samples were collected from each villiage 2 soil samples of Entisols (0-10 cm), Inceptisols (10-30cm) and Vertisols (>30) were collected. These soil samples were analyzed for physico-chemical properties (pH, EC, OC and CaCO3) and status of different forms of Nitrogen. The data showed that the soils of Omerga tahsil (Entisols, Inceptisols and Vertisols) were neutral to alkaline in soil reaction, safe in EC, low to medium in OC and non-calcareous to calcareous in nature. About the available nutrient soil shows the low nutrient availability from different forms of nitrogen such as Total nitrogen, Total hydrolysable nitrogen, Available nitrogen, Acid insoluble nitrogen, Amino acid, Ammonical nitrogen, Nitrate nitrate which contains water and nutrients. pH and CaCO3 shows negative co-relation with all forms of nitrogen and positive significant relation of organic carbon with all forms of nitrogen except available N. Thus present study shows that low to medium organic forms of nitrogen contributes in increasing the soil fertility and crop production.
