Abstract

The study was conducted on performance of 15 genotypes of African marigold (Tagetes erecta L.) under Mudigere condition. Experiment was laid out in randomized block design with three replications, at college of Horticulture, Mudigere, during 2013-14. Plants were raised in nursery beds during September 2013 and transplanted after one month for evaluation. Significant variation of genotype was recorded in all the growth and flowering parameters. The genotype Nilakkotai Local Orange exhibited best performance on plant height, number of primary and secondary branches per plant stem girth, flower diameter, flower weight, number of petals per flower and number of flower per plant. However, genotype Coimbatore Local Yellow resulted in maximum leaf area and leaf area index, where as maximum total chlorophyll content was recorded with Darmapuri Local. Genotype Dwarf Yellow exerted poorest performance on various growths and flowering attributes.
