Abstract

The field experiment was conducted at Agricultural Research Farm, Institute of Agricultural Sciences, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, during winter season (rabi) of 2013-2014 with three replications by keeping fourteen treatments in randomized block design, to evaluate the effect of intercropping association on root nodulation of dwarf field pea and root growth of (Linum usitatissimum L.) + dwarf field pea (Pisum sativum L.). The highest number of nodules plant-1 (13.92), nodules dry weight plant-1 (49.95 mg) and root dry weight of linseed (0.80 g) and dwarf field pea (0.360 g) were recorded under sole planting as compared to other treatments. Among the row arrangements, highest number of root nodules plant-1 (13.81), dry weight of root nodules plant-1 (49.54 mg) and root dry weight of dwarf field pea (0.341 g) recorded under row ratio of 1:4 with 20% linseed + 80% dwarf field pea and in case of linseed (0.78 g) recorded under, row ratio of 4:1 with 80% linseed + 20% dwarf field pea
