Abstract

The male sterile lines are available in many crops but there is need to acquire deep knowledge about mechanism to develop location /environment specific and stable male sterile lines. The mechanism should be exploited in the crops where it has been identified in order to get pure and cheap hybrid seed. Integrated efforts are needed to be done to exploit the transgenic male sterile lines and explore it further in unidentified crops.Such research would contribute to establish efficient F1 hybrid breeding systems in vegetable crops.
