BATCH EXPERIMENTAL STUDIES ON FIBROUS MATERIAL AS FIXED BED FOR BIOLOGICAL WASTEWATER TREATMENTA.R. VINOD AND R.M. MAHALINGEGOWDAAbstract The present investigation aims to study the applicability of naturally available fibrous material such as coffee husk blended with wooden chips (30 kg/m3) as fixed bed for wastewater treatment. The removal efficiency of COD, NH3-N, TSS and PO4 3- from the domestic wastewater were studied at predefined experimental conditions. In this study, operation was carried out in Regime phase with a detention time of 24 h (1 day) and sampling at an interval of 3 h. From the kinetic studies, correlation co-efficient R2 values varied from 0.906 to 0.932 in the reactor indicating that values of R2 for actual values of percentage removal were nearly equal to 1.
