EFFECT OF PLANT GROWTH REGULATORS ON FLOWERING, FRUITING, YIELD AND QUALITY PARAMETERS OF CUSTARD APPLE (ANNONA SQUAMOSA LINN.) CV. ‘LOCAL’

Abstract

The present experiment was carried out at the Horticultural Research Farm, Department of Horticulture, B. A. College of Agriculture, Anand Agricultural University, and Anand during kharif-rabi season in middle Gujarat agro-climatic conditions. The results revealed that significantly minimum days to first flower initiation, minimum days to peak flowering, higher number of flower clusters per branch, number of fruits set per branch, number of fruits per tree, average fruit weight and fruit yield per tree was observed with GA3 20 + NAA 15 mg/L treatments. While as, combination application of GA3 30 + NAA 30 mg/L was recorded maximum ascorbic acid content. However, reducing sugar, non reducing sugar and total sugars were recorded highest in combination spray of GA3 40 + NAA 45 mg/L. For economic point of view, GA3 20 + NAA 15 mg/L followed by NAA 90 mg/L treatment gave highest net income.
