INFLUENCE OF PHOSPHORUS IN COMBINATION WITH RHIZOBIUM INOCULATION ON GROWTH, YIELD AND NUTRIENT UPTAKE OF MUNGBEAN (VIGNA RADIATA L.)

Deepak Kumar and Bikkar Singh Sidhu

Abstract

A field experiment was conducted at Guru Kashi University, Talwandi Sabo during kharif season of 2014. The field experiment comprised of ten treatments in factorial randomized block design, replicated four times. Main treatments were two levels of Rhizobium inoculation i.e. inoculated and uninoculated and sub treatments included five levels of P: 0, 10, 20, 30, 40 kg P2O5 ha-1. Rhizobium inoculation increased the number of nodules plant-1, number of pods plant-1, biological and seed yield and nitrogen and phosphorus uptake by grain significantly. Phosphorus addition significantly increased the leaf area index, number of pods plant-1, 1000-grain weight, seed and straw yield up to 30 kg P2O5 ha-1 and nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium uptake up to 40 kg P2O5 ha-1 in plant.
