Abstract

An experiment with 4 main factors (sowing dates- 18th August, 18th September, 18th October and 18th November), 4 sub factors (varieties- Phule Anuradha, Phule Chitra, Phule Vasudha and Phule Revati) was laid out in Split plot design with three replications. Observations on days to panicle initiation, days required for 50% flowering and days required for physiological maturity were recorded. The variations in mean number of days required for panicle initiation, 50 per cent flowering and physiological maturity due to sowing dates, due to varieties and their interaction effects were statistically significant. Minimum days required for panicle initiation were recorded in D1 (18th Aug) sowing date because of low temperature. Minimum days required for 50 per cent flowering and physiological maturity was recorded at D2 (18th Sep) sowing date. Minimum days required for panicle initiation, 50 per cent flowering and physiological maturity was recorded in Phule Auradha variety. From this study it was concluded that variety Phule Auradha variety sown on18th September is suitable as required minimum days for panicle initiation, 50 per cent flowering and physiological maturity.
