Abstract

A field experiment was conducted during rabi season of 2013-14 on calcareous soil under Saurashtra region. The experiment consisted of four levels of nitrogen (0, 90, 120, 150 Kg N ha-1) and four levels of phosphorus (0, 45, 60, 75 Kg P2O5 ha-1) making sixteen treatment combinations tested in factorial randomized block design with three replications. The results indicated that application of 150 Kg N ha-1and 75 Kg P2O5 ha- 1significantly increased the growth parameters viz., Plant height, stem thickness, number of leaves per plant, dry matter yield of different plant parts of Popcorn. The yield attributing parameters viz., cob girth, cob length, number of cobs/plant, number of grains/cob, grain rows/cob, test weight, seed weight/cob, dry weight of cob and yield of popcorn. The overall results indicated that combined application of nitrogen shows the synergistic effect on growth attributes of popcorn and sustain the yield.
