EXTENT OF MOBILE (HANDPHONES) USED FOR GETTING AGRICULTURE INFORMATION IN FARMING

Abstract

The present study was conducted in Bihar to identify the extent of mobile used for getting agriculture information in farming. Madhubani districts were selected purposively from the Bihar due to the following reason, the district has very rich and fertile land, they have been boon for the farmers and Existing clusters of micro and small enterprises. Total of 200 farmers were randomly selected from Block Lakhnaur in Madhubani district of Bihar. Lakhnaur block consists of 44 villages, out of which 2 villages were selected randomly for this study. Respondents involved in farming activities collected information at various stages of the agricultural cycle, through their mobile phones. During the initial phase of farming when farmers contacted agricultural expert and colleagues to make enquiries about high-yielding varieties of seeds and fertilizers, among other things. During the middle phases of the agricultural cycle, the big landholding farmers not only contacted other farmers but contacted government officials, agricultural universities and dealers to get information. The data were collected though interview schedule. Present study was in term of frequency of getting various agriculture information.
