MOLECULAR CHARACTERIZATION OF CHICKPEA BACTERIAL BIOAGENTS AGAINST DRY ROOT ROT BY RAPD AND 16S RDNA TECHNIQUES

Abstract

RAPD banding profile with four different random primers viz., OPA-12, OPA-18, OPD-4 and OPD-5 revealed the existence of genetic variability among the eight isolates that were classified into 3 main clusters. Cluster I is sub-divided into cluster Ia (CREB-13 and CREB-6) and Ib (CRB-20). cluster-II contains CREB-16 and CRB-6. Cluster III is sub-divided into cluster Ic (CRB-12 and CRB-9) and Id (CREB-10). Amplification of 16S rDNA with 63F and 1387R primers which are specific to bacterial 16S rDNA produced approximately 1300 bp fragment. These results show that the potential antagonistic isolate CREB-16 was Bacillus subtilis that belong to prokaryotes.
