EVALUATION OF INDUSTRIAL AND CIVIL ACTIVITIES EFFECTS ON SANJABI GROUNDWATER RESOURCES, IRAN USING MODFLOW

Bahman Ferdowsi and Saeid Shabanlou

Abstract

In this paper, the Sanjabi Plain aquifer located in Kermanshah Province has been quantitatively simulated in order to assess the effects of industrial and civil activities. At the first step, the data required for simulation have been collected from the related organizations. Then, the packages associated with the hydrodynamic parameters and also the plain DEM accompanied by the boundary conditions have been introduced to the model and the plain model has been run quantitavely and the water budget and the water table drawdown graph have been extracted. The obtained results from the water budget showed 11305657 m3 decreases in the aquifer storage or a negative water budget. The results also showed that the maximum drawdown equal to 1m occurred at Ravansar city location. So that, the maximum drawdown has been shown in rural and industrial regions as the result of withdraw from many pumping wells to satisfy industrial and agricultural demands.
