UTILIZATION OF BIOMASS FROM TRICHODERMA HARZIANUM FOR THE ADSORPTION OF REACTIVE RED DYEV. Karthik, K. Saravanan, N. Sivarajasekar and N. SuriyanarayananAbstract Synthetic dyes are extensively used in many industries such as textile, food and paper. The effluents of these industries are highly coloured and the disposal of these effluents into receiving waters causes damage to the environment. Reactive Red (RR) is an important group of synthetic colourant widely used in textile industries. The release of RR in to the environment adversely affects the human health and aquatic organisms. The present investigation focused on the adsorptive removal of RR from aqueous solution by dead biomass of Trichoderma harzanium. isolated from soil sample. The effect of pH, temperature, biomass dosage, NaCl concentrations and initial dye concentration on the removal of RR was investigated.
