ISFAHAN PROVINCE DROUGHT ANALYSIS BY USING STANDARDIZED PRECIPITATION INDEX (SPI) IN THE TIME SCALE OF LONG-TERM

Abstract

Drought has long been an inevitable phenomenon as natural disaster areas in this vast country, especially in hot and dry climates have occurred repeatedly and it has brought heavy losses in terms of economic, social and environmental. Undoubtedly, a good first step to deal with drought and its effects is accurate understanding of the phenomenon and its effects on different dimensions, so based on that, strategies and solutions to solve this issue can be applied. Rainfall is the most important criterion that is used in drought classification. Different profiles may be made based on rainfall for drought classification. Annual rainfall in the drought SPI standard profiles, divided in classes, each class is given severity of drought. The aim of this study is to analyze drought in Isfahan province is based on the standardized precipitation index, in this regard, using the site hit 20-year-old Meteorological Organization weather station obtaining and using Microsoft Excel eight annual mean and standard deviation were calculated. Results showed: Periodic and mild droughts, occurred in the study area during the period as well as North and North East Province from this perspective is significant, with regard to the fact that these areas are the areas susceptible to fine dusts and it is required that these areas receive more attention while the risk is arrived near Isfahan.
