EXPLORATION METHOD OF POTASH AND MAGNESIUM SALTS OF THE COMPLEX STRUCTURE AT GREAT DEPTHS

Vladimir P. Zubov and Anatoly D. Smychnik

Abstract

The article shows the topicality of issues related to obtaining reliable information about the geological conditions of mining of potash and magnesium salts. The authors note the dependence of the parameters characterizing the security measures, envisaged in the operation of salt mines, on the reliability of the mining and geological information about the productive reservoir and the rocks of the waterproof strata. It is shown that obtaining the necessary geological information for the safe mine development of potassium and magnesium salts of the complex structure at great depths by drilling wells from the surface is practically impossible. The authors proposed method, allowing cost reduction during the exploration of potash and magnesium salts deposits of complex structure at great depths. The method consists in the drilling of the branch holes from the key wells. The results of chemical testing of core material obtained during drillings of branch holes, as well as geophysical studies in the wells, are used for the construction of geological cross sections.
