TRICHODERMA VIRIDE AS BIOCONTROL AGENT AGAINST FISH PATHOGENIC WATERMOULDSGAURAV K. SRIVASTAVA, AUSAF AHMAD AND SHAKTI K. PRABHUJIAbstract Watermoulds, particularly Oömycetes, have been reported to cause severe fish diseases and have been found to be the major factor resulting in colossal loss to pisciculture. Trichoderma viride has been used for bioremediation of the fungal diseases of fishes. In vitro and in vivo studies have indicated that conidial macerate extracts of Trichoderma viride (500 μL /10 mL in aqueous culture) has been fungicidal under in vitro cultures of pathogenic watermoulds, viz., Pythium oligandrum, Achlya diffusa, Saprolegnia diclina and Aphanomyces laevis; and under in vivo experiments have indicated that the leachates of Trichoderma viride were fungicidal to pathogenic watermoulds and were non-toxic to fishes too.
