DEVELOPMENT OF DISPOSABLE HERBAL TREATED SKULLCAPCHANDRAKUMAR SIVGNANAM AND SRINIVASAN JAGANNATHANAbstract Malassezia and alopecia are the most common hair problems that people are facing in their dayto- day lives. Malassezia is a dandruff problem and Alopecia is a hair fall problem. While wearing helmets people sweat and this is one of the major reasons for hairfall and dandruff. 100% polyester non-woven skull caps have been developed with herbal finishes to treat the above said problems. The herbal plants include Hibiscus rosasinensis (hibiscus), Phyllanthus emblica (gooseberry) and Wrightia tinctoria Dyerss oleander. The herbal solutions were extracted from the medicinal plants using methanol as a solvent. The treated non woven fabrics have been tested for antifungal, anti bacterial activity and air permeability. These herbal finished disposable skull caps can be used in helmets, caps, scarfs, etc.,
