EFFECT OF STCR BASED NUTRIENT MANAGEMENT ON YIELD, NUTRIENT UPTAKE AND PROFITABILITY OF MAIZE (ZEA MAYS) IN AN ACID ALFISOL OF NORTHWESTERN HIMALAYASShabnam, Sanjay K. Sharma, R.S. Rana and N.K. SankhyanAbstract The present study was conducted during kharif, 2013 in silty clay loam soil of Palampur, to study the effect of STCR based nutrient management on yield, uptake and profitability of maize, in an on-going long-term STCR based fertilizer experiment, which was started during 2007. The experiment was conducted in a randomized block design comprising eight treatments viz., control, farmersÂ’ practice, general recommended dose, soil test based fertilizer application, two yield targets of 30 and 40 q ha-1 based on prescription based nutrients management approach in absence as well as presence of FYM. Results revealed that after 6 years of continuous cropping and STCR based nutrients application in treatment for target yield of 40 q ha-1 with and without FYM (T8 and T7) resulted in the significantly better productivity of maize (3.76 t ha-1 and 3.67 t ha-1), as compared to conventional treatments viz; GRD and STB, respectively. Also the Highest B: C ratio (2.30) was recorded under STCR (non-IPNS) approach based target yield treatment for 40 q ha-1.
