Abstract

In the prospects and perspectives of waste reutilization and eco-sustainable concrete production, the feasibility of total replacement of cement with fly ash and partial replacement of natural fine aggregate with M-Sand (manufactured sand) in geo-polymer concrete was investigated. Variations in compressive strength of eco-friendly blocks with respect to various molarities of alkaline activators were studied. The optimal molarity ratio was identified as 12M and the optimum molarity ratio was kept constant for partial replacement of natural sand with M-Sand. It was observed that better compressive strength (7 and 28 days) was attained in the eco-friendly blocks up to 40% replacement of natural sand with M-Sand. Furthermore 100% cement can be replaced with fly ash without detrimental to the strength characteristics of eco-friendly geo polymer blocks. Usage of these blocks can reduce enormous amount of CO2 emission.
