A REVIEW OF THE PERFORMANCE OF THE PALM FIBERS REINFORCEMENT TO BUILDING MATERIAL

Abstract

In this paper, a comprehensive review of the performance of vegetable fibres for reinforcement of construction materials is presented. The review is focused on fibres extracted from palm fibres to predict the behaviour of structures and building materials. This review mainly focuses on the durability of palm fibres as reinforcing for construction materials. In addition, the paper also contains characterization of palm fibres used as reinforcement in civil construction. The use of palm fibres as a source of raw material in construction civil engineering not only provides a new resource, in addition allows the reduction of environmental impacts compared to conventional composites
