Abstract

The present research work quantified the concentration and remediation of benzene in a total of commercial, residential and surface water body of Madurai District. A significant variation in the benzene level of March 2016 month was predicted. Most of these samples are found to exceed the prescribed level for benzene recommended by WHO, EPA, CCME and USNDS. The cancer risk analysis at corporate locations among children was seven folds higher as compared to the risk of adults. This study shows the effective removal of benzene contamination by adsorption process. The adsorbent was prepared and the removal study was determined by adjusting the height of column by combined column technique. The heat up process extend the surface of the adsorbent with enhanced porosity in sorbent was apparent from the recorded SEM patterns,XRD and FTIR study. The decrease in the concentration of benzene was observed after adsorption process. The highest efficiency was observed in hydrothermal hotness. The result shows that the adsorption process can be used in aqueous solution treatment.
