WEST-KAZAKHSTAN REGION FOREST AND ENVIRONMENTAL STATUS OF FLOODPLAIN FORESTSRosa Maratovna Bakessova, Erzhan Zhunusovich Kentbayev and BotagozAidarbekovna KentbayevaAbstract The object of research was the floodplain oak forests of the West Kazakhstan region. Of all oak forests in the valley of the Zhayik River, Burlin SM has 79.6%. Floodplain forests are located along three river terraces:riverine, central and near terrace. Over the past decades floodplain forests in the West Kazakhstan region have been in a state of prolonged depression. These forests are dependent on the regime of flood waters and perishes due to lack of moisture or, conversely, the excess of it. Significant changes occurred in the average taxation indicators. The stock of pedunculate oak decreased for 2.3%, and the fullness for 23.8%. A significant reduction in the area of oak forests resulted from unsystematic cutting and pasturing of livestock. In oaks plantation, the 3rd class bonity forest stands prevail. In the oak forests, medium-size (0.5-0.7)plantations 79.4% in Burlin and 78.9% in Yanvartsev state institution prevail. The amplitude of ground water level fluctuations was from 86 cm to 120 cm.
