Abstract

Heavy metals from mineral extraction activities may contaminate food, water, and air, and bring detrimental effects to wildlife, domesticated animals, and humans. Concentrations of heavy metals were determined in feathers of thirty individuals of free range domestic chicken and in soils from Brgy. Ipil-Calancan Bay, Sta. Cruz, Marinduque Island, Philippines through X-Ray Fluorescence. To detect the presence of hemoparasites, few drops of blood were also extracted from all of the individual domestic chicken captured.
