REVIEW AND IMPLEMENTATION OF THE ACCIDENT ANALYSIS METHODS (AAM) IN THE OIL AND GAS UPSTREAM SECTOR

Nikolaos Georgakopoulos

Abstract

Despite the important developments in the Accident Analysis Methods (AAM) for the process industry, when it comes to the Oil and Gas industry, there is still much to be done. For example, in all European Union Directives or Legislations governing Oil and Gas exploration or production activities, there is no reference to the Accident Analysis Methods. In the present paper, a systematic literature review of these methods for the Process Industry is conducted and several Accident Analysis Methods are reviewed. One of the methods reviewed is further discussed in an effort to adopt it as a health and safety management tool for the Oil and Gas Upstream Sector.
