ANTIBACTERIAL ACTIVITY OF ACALYPHA INDICA LINN FLOWER EXTRACT DERIVED FROM TIMOR AGAINST EHEC 0157: H7 GROWTHNIKMAH, MOSES KOPONG TOKAN, ABDUL MAJID AND SUNADJIAbstract The objectives of the study were to determine the Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) and the Minimum Bactericidal Concentration (MBC). In vitro bioassay method using the bacteria Enterohaemorrhagic Escherichia coli (EHEC) 0157: H7 from the Hospital Dr. Sutomo of Surabaya through Broth microdilution testing technique and continued by inoculation on the agar media. The results showed that the flower extract of Acalypha indica Linn showed Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) at a concentration of 200 mg/mL with a viable count of 366 CFU/500 L. The higher the concentration of the extract, the decreasing the number of the test bacterial cells. At concentrations of 1000 mg/mL, the number of cells decreased to 201 CFU/500 L. While Minimum Bactericidal Concentration (MBC) has not been found. The flower extract of Acalypha indica Linn showed Minimum Inhibition Concentration (MIC) at concentration 200 mg/mL with a viable count of 366 CFU/500 L.
