DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY OF ENSAID PANJANG VILLAGE NATURAL AND CULTURAL TOURISM IN SINTANG WEST KALIMANTAN, INDONESIA

Abstract

The objective of this study is to describe the strategic management of nature based tourism in Ensaid Panjang Village, West Kalimantan. A series of deep interviews was conducted in order to identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats taken by an expert, governmental officer, the visitors and local residents. The results were analyzed by SWOT description. Results showed that of natural beauty, several cultural objects and attractions were among the strenghts, while access, accomodation and promotion were the weaknesses. The opportunities in developing tourism in Ensaid Panjang Village was the hospitality and participation of the community in managing the local culture, while the main threats were climatic condition and tourist recognition about this destinations. The strategies to overcome the problem were the development and improvement of tourism facilities, infrastructures and promotion.
