AGNELLO JOSEPH NAVEEN, BOOPAHTI AND ARIVOLI A.

Abstract

The present study of sugar industry, Erode, Tamil Nadu was taken for the purpose to compare the economic and physic-chemical parameters of this waste water recycling treatment technology using conventional technology methods like cooling tower, condensate polishing unit (CPU) and Activated sludge process combined with cleaner technology, between untreated and treated water samples were tested using APHA standard methodology. The result shows clearly using cleaner technology has more efficiency, economic viability and environmental sustainability on management perspective. This study states that combining the older and modern technology gives a ways to techno-economic feasibility and physcio-chemical parameters result shows conventional and cleaner technology treatment like Color, pH, BOD, COD, TDS, TSS, Chloride, Sulphide, Nirogen, Sulphate, Sodium, phosphate within permissible limits of Industrial water standards limits at the end of the treatment process this shows cleaner technology is more efficient than conventional technology. In economic perspective the results show (CPU) ROI -0.9419%, Cost benefit per liter- 0.3663% Cooling tower Return on investment -0.88936%, Cost benefit per liter 0.0836%, Conventional technology (ASP) ROI- 0.3334%, Cost benefit per liter -0.1084% Cleaner technology (UF, MGF, RO) ROI- 0.06943% Cost benefit per liter- 0.4474%. For more efficiency this two are used has an add-on process change technology in this sugar industry water is re-circulated in a closed loop system to achieve zero liquid discharge in process as per norms given by Central pollution control board (CPCB).
