Abstract
A study was being carried out to isolate different fungal flora associated with rice grains during storage condition in two flood affected area of Lakhimpur district of Assam, India. The fungal flora, associated with storage rice grains degrade the quality through production of undesirable odor and reduce the nutritional value. In this study all together seventeen fungal isolates belonging to seven genera were obtained from the rice samples of which Aspergillus and Penicillium were found most dominated. The incorporation of this fungal flora in the rice samples could be a possibility of occurrence of mycotoxins and therefore, it is necessary to control the growth of storage fungi. A bacterial strain isolated from rhizosphere of PhlogacanthusthrysiflorusNees., a medicinal plant and was identified as Enterobacterbugandensis through 16s rDNA sequence analysis and molecular phylogeny. Bioassay of the bacterial strain exhibited antagonistic activity against the fungal flora associated with post-harvest rice grain. As this bacterial strain can inhibit the growth of toxicogenic fungi As pergillus, therefore, it can be used as a bio control agent for control of stored fungi.
