COWSHED AIR COULD SERVE AS A SOURCE OF BACILLUS SP.BACTERIA FOR THE MANAGEMENT OF RICE PATHOGENS

SHUBHRANSU NAYAK , URMILA DHUA AND SOMA SAMANTA

Abstract

Bacillus species bacteria, isolated from cowshed environment could significantly restrict vegetative growth of rice pathogens Fusarium, Alternaria, Aspergillusflavus, Aspergillusniger and Penicillium. Aspergillus niger showed highest susceptibility whereas Fusarium had the least. Further detailed exploration on the potential of Indian cowshed may bring out more diversity of bacteria to be used as microbial bio pesticides.
