SANGEETA SHARMA, SAMANT SHARMA AND AMANDEEP KAUR

Abstract

The quality of soil is the most important factor that controls the yield of the crop. The characterization of soil in relation to evaluate the fertility status of soils of an area is an important aspect in context of productivity. The soil parameters also play vital role in controlling the soil quality. Nutrient supply is considered as natural phenomena where some of the soils may have enriched supply while some others may have short supply. The progress in crop productivity could not be possible without the judicious use of multi nutrient fertilizers in order to overcome the existing nutrient imbalance. The study area covers nearby four villages of Ferozepur district, i.e. Bhamba Haji, Rohela Haji Uttar, Fattewala Hithar and Dona Bholu Mal to estimate the status of soil multi nutrients and some other important soil parameters. Also, soil nutrient index has been estimated for surface and sub-surface soil layers with the obtained results. The obtained results show that soil quality of village Bhamba Haji, has been found to be more suitable for the cultivation.
