Abstract
This paper (The effect of groundwater salinity on the soil in the District of Dhuluiya) aims at investigating the effect of salinity on the soil quality in the area by applying the spatial analysis of the hydrological characteristics of groundwater, which includes the numerical analysis of wells, the movement of groundwater, its levels and depths, in addition to the chemical analysis of that water. Then, modules are prepared depending on the collected data and applying the new technologies like (GIS) to facilitate the process of achieving accurate results by clarifying the effect of the natural factors like geological formations and climate factors in addition to the influence of the surface water. The findings of this study are as follow. The effect of the geology of the area and the tectonic movements on the depth and quantity of groundwater and groundwater reserve. There is an obvious effect of the fluctuation of climate factors on the fluctuation of the levels of groundwater. There is a clear variance in the groundwater salinity according to the geological formations and the effect of human and natural factors. There is a variance of soil salinity in the area due to the influence of human and natural factors, and the effect of the groundwater.
